Our Pastor

YJ and Lisa both feel very grateful to be a part of the First Baptist Church here in Brackettville. They enjoy the people here and feel blessed to be back in Texas. YJ has worked with Native American groups and on developing/expanding the Freedom Conference for many years of his ministry and he continues to do so here. Lisa enjoys being a housewife again and appreciates the freedom and flexibility it offers since she shares the responsibility of caring for her aging mother with her four sisters.

YJ was born and raised in Smithville, TX. He worked several jobs prior to ministry (Texas Highway Department, Missouri/Kansas Railroad where he worked as a brakeman / conductor, and as a cowboy working cattle). YJ holds a Bachelor of Applied Arts and Science degree from Southwest Texas State University (currently Texas State University).

YJ and Lisa met in 1973 and were married in 1975. They have three children: Trent, Trina and Leah. In 1979 Lisa accepted Christ into her life. After a serious auto accident in 1980, YJ gave his life to Christ. A short year later, YJ began serving in ministry as pastor at Rosanky Baptist Church in Rosanky, TX. He served as the pastor there from 1981 until 1999. In 1999, YJ and Lisa felt God calling them to California. YJ accepted a position as pastor at First Baptist Church in Orangevale, CA. At one time, during his service there, he offered three different services each Sunday. YJ did cowboy ministries during the

week and Lisa worked at Bank of America. YJ and Lisa served in California for 15 years until moving to Brackettville in 2013.

YJ enjoys history, Native American and Western memorabilia, hunting, and golf. Lisa especially delights in her grandchildren and children. YJ and Lisa both enjoy laughing, good times, traveling, and shopping for antiques. YJ credits Lisa not only as an integral part of their family but also of his service throughout his ministry.
