Reverand F.M.D. Hill started First Baptist Church Brackettville in 1921. He originally came to work with the soldiers that were stationed at Fort Clark. Reverand Hill saw the need for a Baptist Church and he began organizing it. He became the first pastor of First Baptist Church (FBC), Brackettville, Texas.
In 1946, FBC purchased the Chapel on Fort Clark and moved it to the current location in Brackettville at the corner of North Ann Street and Veltman. The old Fort Clark Chapel serves as our Sanctuary. The Education Building was added in 1955 and the Sanctuary was later remodeled in 1984. Under the leadership of Pastor R.D. Holloway, First Baptist Church became affiliated with the Southern Baptists of Texas State Convention. Many pastors have faithfully served here at First Baptist Church over the years.
What We Believe
GOD: There is only one living and true God. The Scriptures reveal to us that He is eternally existent in three persons - Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. He is the Creator, Redeemer, Preserver, and Ruler of the Universe.
GOD THE FATHER: God the Father created, sustains, and rules over the universe. He created man in His own image and provided redemption for man through Jesus Christ after the fall. He is truly Father to those who have been born again through faith in Jesus Christ. He loves all men. (Genesis 1:1)
GOD THE SON: Jesus Christ is eternally God and through Him all things were made. To atone for man's sin, He left Heaven and became incarnate, being conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. He made provision for the redemption of man through His death, which He died in our place, on the cross. His death totally satisfied the demands of the law. Jesus rose from the dead with a glorified body and appeared to many who were eye witnesses of His resurrection. He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. He is the One Mediator between God and man. (John 14:6, Romans 5:8)
FBC Brackettville is committed to loving and ministering to the people of Kinney County through active community outreach. Our desire is to share the love and life of Jesus Christ with everyone and to see Him touch and transform hearts and lives.
