How to break a fathers heart:

The prodigal son wasted what his father had given him.

(verse 14).

The prodigal son violated his fathers moral values.

How to bless a father:

       By seeking his fellowship.

The prodigal son realized his mistakes and sin and began seeking his fathers fellowship. (verses 17-20).

       By respecting his authority.

The prodigal son was willing to submit and respect his fathers decision concerning him serving as his fathers slave. (verses 18-19).

       By having a positive spirit.

The prodigal son began to have a positive spirit, while his older brother remained focused on what his brother had done. (verses 22-24).

       By loving our brother.
