A Fathers Love Luke 15:11-24 Jeff
Janca, Pastor First
Baptist Church Brackettville,
Texas In this wonderful passage of Scriptures, we see a
story of betrayal, forgiveness, love and grace.
It is a picture of the great love and mercy of the Lord Jesus Christ. How to break a fathers
heart:
The prodigal son withdrew
from his fathers love and presence. (verses
12-13).
The prodigal son wasted what
his father had given him. (verse
14).
The prodigal son violated
his fathers moral values. (verse
14) How to bless a father:
By seeking his
fellowship. The
prodigal son realized his mistakes and sin and began seeking his fathers
fellowship. (verses 17-20).
By respecting his
authority. The
prodigal son was willing to submit and respect his fathers decision concerning
him serving as his fathers slave. (verses 18-19).
By having a positive
spirit. The
prodigal son began to have a positive spirit, while his older brother remained
focused on what his brother had done. (verses 22-24).
By loving our brother. The
older brother missed a great opportunity to show love and forgiveness and mercy
to his brother. He failed to follow his
fathers godly example of forgiveness. (verses 27-32). The
Prodigal Son:
